RIVIERA

Project by a group of Monza-based industrialists said to be based on the Kauhsen WK F1 car later transformed into the Merzario A4 in 1979 - although it is unknown whether they took precisely that car off of Merzario's hands. Apparently, the monocoque was built (or rebuilt?) by John Thompson in England, and mated to the ubiquitous DFV/Hewland combo, with the overall design work done by former Autodelta engineer Giorgio Valentini. Intended for Alberto Colombo and sponsored by Colombo's long-time sponsor Le Coq Sportif, the car was shelved in the winter of 1980 and the team was named Team Riviera, after which Colombo returned to F2.
