The Scuderia Sant'Ambroeus, winner of two Italian titles in the GT 2000 and 750 Sport category, was born in Milan in 1951 from an idea by Eugenio Dragoni, Alberto della Beffa, Franco Martinengo, Alessandro Zafferri and Elio Zagato. The Scuderia, created to promote the competitive activity of emerging drivers, had the aim of bringing drivers, especially Italians, to the threshold of Formula One. In 1961, after obtaining a 156 F1 from Ferrari for FISA (Federazione Italiana Scuderie Automobilistiche), founded by Dragoni himself in 1953, the Scuderia in turn "returned" it to Sant'Ambroeus and took part in three world GPs (England and Italy), winning the French GP in Reims with Giancarlo Baghetti. In 1962 with the Ferrari 196SP, Scarfiotti won the European Hill Climb Championship, the first laurel for Ferrari and Dragoni was nominated DS of Ferrari, a position he held until 1966.
