Team Arrows' union with the new sponsor couldn't have gotten off to a better start: Riccardo Patrese's pole position in the first GP of the 1981 season at Long Beach.
The Italian ceramic flooring company closed a 2-year deal with the English team, bringing the also Italian Siegfried Stohr to partner with Patrese. For 1981 the English team took full advantage of the previous year's car base (the A3 model). And at the beginning the bet proved to be right with Patrese reaching the podium twice in the first 4 races of 1981.
But after that promising start, the good results disappeared and the Arrows cars no longer reached the points zone.
