In 1976, the great hope for better results was the return of Swede Ronnie Peterson to the team to partner with Italian Vittorio Brambilla. With limited budget and sharing the attention in the F2 championship, the March team maintained a kind of B-Team, with different drivers and sponsors, among them the Italian Arturo Merzario with the sponsorship of Ovoro.

Using the fast but fragile 761 chassis, Merzario achieved 9th place in the French GP as the best result with the March car in 1976.

Halfway through the season, Arturo decides to move to the Wolf-Williams team.
